I will be looking into alternatives as they envisage it being out of action until November. Again keep an eye out here for news as it happens!

The Hall and LESSONS

Things still keep changing. They have now put off doing the floor until August. There will still be no judo tonight though as the school are using the hall.

We will probably continue for the time being, however this will depend on numbers as there have been a couple of weeks recently where we have not been able to run the session.

Keep an eye out here for more news as it comes in!

We have yet another succesful grading to report! On Saturday 23rd July Sid entered a National Promotional Grading at the High Wycombe Judo Centre and won all his fights by Ippon which took him all the way up to 1st Kyu (top Brown). Sid has been unfortunate with injuries and has had to miss a few gradings but when he was finally fit he made up for
missed gradings and showed what he can do! Well done Sid - a very well deserved
grade!

Mon 30th May '05

I am very pleased to announce that on Sunday 29th May Richard entered a Dan grading.
He qualified for a line up and then convincingly won all three fights in his line
up to
gain his 1st Dan on the day. It takes some doing to get your Dan Grade on a line up and just proves Richard's skill level. Not that it needed proving to us! Congratulations Richard!!!!

Sun 13th February '05

Luke entered his first competitive grading today. He had a tough time with the weight
difference between himself and his opponents being in excess of 10 kilos. He had two fights and did extremely well, winning his first early on with an Ippon throw and then going on to draw his second contest. Luke gained his 7th mon - Orange belt. Well done Luke, an excellant first time performance.

Adam was just as successful having two fights and winning both, his first with an Ippon
throw and his second with an Ippon hold down. Adam was awarded 4th Kyu - Blue
belt. All in all a VERY successful day for the club. Well done lads!

Thurs 24th June '04

Sat 12th June we had 3 players enter a grading, Dave won 1 of his fights and was awarded 8th Kyu Orange belt. John fought extremely well and so despite no wins was promoted to 8th Kyu Orange belt and last but no means least Adam had a tough time now being in the next group and was unlucky this time. I was very pleased with the progress of everyone from their last gradings, so keep up the hard work! We also had news that Kieran was promoted
to 5th Mon, Yellow Belt with 2 red tags.

STOP PRESS - THURS 24th June '04, the Judo lesson has been cancelled due to members being away to watch the football. We will be back to normal next week.

Thurs 29th April '04

Monday 19th April - Both Luke and Tom graded to gain their 6th Mon, Yellow belt with 3 red tags. Congratulations to them. Their next grading is a big one as they will be going for their Orange belts and will have to go and compete in contest. Change of venue - As of the 20th May the lesson will be moving into the Gym (where the mats are kept). This will provide room for a bigger mat area.

Mon 15th March '04

Congratualtions to Luke and Tom who were graded tonight. Both of them were awarded 2nd Mon, Red Belt with 2 yellow tabs. Well done both of you. An achievment for us by being the first players to be graded through this lesson, may there be many more. Adam (AKA Baby Beast) also succesfully completed his theory, and being a senior, is now ready to compete for his grade. This will probably take place some time in September after he returns from his holiday. We wish him luck!

Myself and two of our players, Tony and Nick, were very privileged recently to be able to attend a Seminar with the one and only Royce Gracie, UFC champion. We had a great time and picked up a few nifty tricks. Royce himself is a great guy, with a good sense of humour, it was an honour to be taught by him! To see a picture of us with Royce Click Here. Unfortunatly on the down side, whilst there, I managed to pick up yet another injury. But although this is my most serious to date, all Judo lessons will still be going ahead as usual, so no excuses!

Fri 3rd Jan '03
